The IBMi system turned 25 in 2013. This system has been through many iterations, from Silverlake in the 80’s to the AS/400 platform in the 90’s and 00’s, to the current iteration of IBMi which runs on IBM Power Systems and IBM Pure Systems. The IBMi was developed as a midrange server for small to medium sized businesses and departments in large enterprises. Over the years it’s been redesigned so that it will integrate within distributed networks and with web applications. In fact, the final“I” in IBMi stands for integration.
